Blow moulding is a particular thermoplastic working process that turns out to be valid in the context of production of small and medium sizes hollow objects with high mechanical performance.

It is particularly suitable for the production of items, which are asked high performances in terms of mechanical resistance, and wear, especially the process developed by Telcom to obtain three-layered tanks, is characterized for a particularly high productivity.

With this technique, it is possible to obtain items – also with thin thicknesses – for mass production, at low costs.

30 years of experience

Telcom has invested in blow moulding by equipping itself with the most cutting-edge machineries present on the market and by making available for its customers this technology.

Here are the main advantages:

  • Moulding of multi-layered hollow objects
  • Possibility of moulding hollow objects even of large volumes
  • Capacity of moulding complex parts
  • Possibility of incorporating handles, inserts and various accessories at the design stage

Telcom on-site production plant

A plant able to mould manufactures of volume up to 2000 liters into three layers with raw material of very high mechanical performances.

The procedure

The raw material, in the form of granules, is mixed, dosed and transferred to the extruders that laminate it at a temperature previously set. This material is injected at pressure creating a semi-finished plastic tubular, called Parison in technical jargon.

This resulting pre-form is later tightened in a mould previously contoured to follow the final shape of the product and it is subject to the introduction of air at high pressure that will dilate the plastic until make it adhere to the mould panels, copying perfectly the shape.

Once the plastic material is cooled and hardened, the mould can be finally opened to let come out the manufacture that will be with a very high mechanical resistance to breaking and deformation.

The moulds

The realization of the mould takes place in Telcom internal workshops, generally using high thickness steel sheet or aluminium worked with machine tools numerically controlled.

The applications

The technology of blow moulding is now a technique consolidated that in Telcom uses the most advanced tools present on the market and highly specialized labor that allows the production in large volumes and very few restrictions in the context of product design.

Today the blow moulding finds application in the production of hollow objects for cosmetic and food sectors (bottles, vials, etc…) containers for chemical products, polyethylene cables, watering cans, various food containers and different technical articles with various applications, from automotive to household appliances and hobby items.
