• We are implementing two new Management Systems: the first one aims to comply with the Italian norm 231/2001 on the Model of a Company, the other one is on the Mangement of Health & Safety according to the regulations of OHSAS 18.000. 
  •  We started two new research projects:
  1. with ENEA, CETMA, Politecnico of Milan, University of Lecce we started the project Textra (innovative technologies and materials for automotive industry) 
  2. with the Research Centre of Fiat, CETMA, ALENIA, University of Engineering of Materials, the project Cespert (Compositi termoplastici e strutture per i mezzi di trasporto).
  • production start-up in the Arad plant (Romania) from Telcomest. 
  • Notwithstanding the international economical crisis that has forced Telcom to reduce its personnel  by means of lay-offs, as first time in the company history, important production and supply contracts with some of the most important international chain stores such as IKEA, OBI, Auchan were signed.
  • Telcom obtained the Ethics Certification SA 8000, related to the production system in the absolute respect of the human rights, in so doing confirming the ethics and social commitment that the company has been pursuing from the beginning of its activity. 
  • A new decoration and furnishing product line, Modum, was started, whose success was attested by its utilization in several movies, TV-programs and articles on sector magazines.
  • The storage-chests from the Jolly by Telcom line were tested at extremely low temperatures during  a significant research mission in Antarctica organized by Enea with researchers from America and New-Zealand. 
  • A few weeks after the establishment of Telcom Est in Romania, the new company supplied its ecological systems to some of the greatest Romanian monasteries. True monuments from the feudal European architecture, these monasteries were built about 6 to 7 centuries ago and are part of the UNESCO patrimony. Voronet, Sucevita and Moldovita are the most famous among them.
  • Telcom strengthened its presence abroad by establishing Telcomest in Romania. The company focused its activity on the production and distribution of big volume containers for sewage. In Spain the company AB Flowers 2001 was established to distribute the Vasar products.
  • In collaboration with ENEA, CETMA and the Ministry of University and Scientific Research, Telcom signed a significant agreement (VICTOR) with the Research Centre of FIAT. This project aimed to develop internal components for the body of urban vehicles with reduced environmental impact. 
  • Telcom Spa donated 3 academic gowns and touches for students from the Course in Business Administration from the University of Brindisi, brach of the University of Bari. This donation has a high symbolic value and testifies the strong collaboration always existed between Telcom and the University .
  • 2005
  • The partnership with the Department of Engineering of plastic materials of the University of Massachusetts in the Unites States to study and develop new products for indoor furniture was started.
  • The Ted line was launched, consisting of products dedicated to covering outdoor surfaces with products in thermoplastic materials (roof tiles and roofing).
  • After 10 years of continuous research and development in the production of products to safeguard the environment, Telcom presented a complete line – Ecologia - for sewage treatment.
  • Start-up of production in the Villafranca, Messina plant.
  • The Telcom R&D department, in collaboration with Fiat Auto, undertook the Victor research project to development auto body components for innovative urban vehicles with low environmental impact.
  • The new production line for earthenware products (Vasarte) was inaugurated in the new plant in Ostuni.
  • Extension of the Pet (Buddy) line with the introduction of injection products like beds, carriers, toilettes, and dishes.
  • The new Vasar 2005 (rotational pots) range was presented at GAFA. One of the innovations was the wide range of colours available, the largest among manufacturers of rotational post with more than 50 references, in addition to traditional ones.
  • Telcom Albania is born of the joint venture between Telcom SpA and the Degennaro-Scianatico Group to produce containers for food products, garden accessories, and indoor decorations, and oenology products in thermoplastic material. These products were to be destined for the Albanian, Kosovan, and Macedonian markets.
  • Telcom Trading started up exclusive distribution of Philco household appliances in Italy.
  • Work began on the construction of the Villafranca (Messina) production plant in an ex-Pirelli plant. The site was destined to manufacture products distributed on the Sicilian and Tyrrhenian – Southern Italy markets.
  • Works began on the new production plant in Messina with the opening planned for June 2003.
  • Implementation of the injection pot line.
  • Creation of new plants for the construction of injection technology moulds.
  • Launching of the new line of Hobby Garden articles.
  • Start-up of the Garden Italia Srl plant in Legnano (garden accessory manufacturing).
  • Construction of a new plant in Ostuni, covering about 20,000 square metres, and start-up of injection mould production and the production of corrugated tubes.
  • Constitution of MCM Srl (maintenance of hi-tech industrial plants).
  • Constitution of Telcom Deutschland GmbH in Germany.
  • Constitution of Kosatelcom, in Thailand, for the production of garden articles (South-east Asia).
  • Inauguration of the new plant in Ostuni, covering about 20,000 square metres.
  • Merger between Tec Srl and Telcom Srl; the name of the company was changed to Telcom SpA
  • Start-up of the Cogit plant in Brindisi (production of canoes, boats, traffic barriers, wells).
  • Entrance into the Consorzio Cetma (ENEA – Scientific Research).
  • Installation of the rapid prototype system through the Laser sintering technique.
From 1997 to 1999
  • Opening of Mercatone Uno department stores in: Francavilla Fontana (BR), Mirabella (AV), S. Cesario (LE) and Matino (LE).
  • Acquisition of 35% of Sun Basket (PR), which deals in the production of homologated tanks for transporting hazardous substances.
  • Constitution, in Boston, of Telcom USA Inc., for the production and distribution of pots in North America. The plant covered a surface are of about 8,000 square metres and counted 150 employees.
From 1992 to 1993
  • Hiving off of retail activity and start-up of department stores in Terlizzi (BA), and Brindisi, under the name of Mercatone Uno.
  • Constitution of Telcom Trading for the marketing of household appliances together with N.V.General Appliances Commodities of Amsterdam (a special and exclusive line of products by A. Merloni SpA in Fabriano).
  • Constitution of Tec Srl in Ostuni and start-up of a new 7,000 square-metre plant. This plant is used for compounding and machining activities. Tec stretches out over about 15,000 square metres and boasts 130 employees.
From 1981 to 1989
  • Construction of the plant for the transformation of plastic materials.
  • Start-up of industrial rotational moulding activity. The first containers in polyethylene ever produced in Italy were made. They proved to be particularly suitable for storing food products. They would replace those in cement-asbestos, galvanized sheet metal, and fibreglass.
  • Telcom boasted production of the first faux earthenware pots that would soon make it an absolute leader on the world market for: quantity, turnover, and number of employees.
From 1976 to 1978
  • Transformation into Telcom Srl for wholesaling and import-export.
  • Beginning of activity in mass distribution with the opening of a superstore in Ostuni.
  • Constitution of Telcom snc for the import-export of household appliances and registration of the Telcom brand name.
